The topic of this talk is "Nimrods of Kinross" these were the aircraft of the time back in the 2006 era! The Ministry of Defence approved a contract to BAE Systems to build 12 Nimrod MRA4s in the UK at a cost of over 1 billion. The purpose of these planes was reconnaissance aircraft and to be based at Kinloss. Like most government major expenditure contracts within about 4 years costs had risen to in excess of 3 billion and a decision taken to scrap the replacement programme so come along and find out more about this.
